Flood Helmet

The Flood Helmet (2008) is a “wearable device that visualises possible future flood scenarios based on the user’s physical lo- cation. The flood level inside the helmet is determined by the GPS location and elevation height of the land that the user is standing on. Based on the IPCC sea level rise predictions, the Helmet is flooded accordingly. Taking the pub- lic’s nonchalant response to the possible sea level rise in the next 50 to 100 years and the inability of experiencing any real impacts that sea level rise can possibly bring as a point of departure, Flood Helmet attempts to manifest the possible future in an experiential and immediate way.
